In the winter of 2013, we realised a need overlooked by many other charities, the need for lighting during the long nights. Many women and children were too afraid to leave their tents at night. We donated 2,000 solar lights to families in Atmeh, Sarmada and Turkuman with a total value of £30,000. A thousand of these solar lights come with mobile phone chargers. The other thousand solar lights we distributed came with a simple lantern. The Solar lights are durable and waterproof. Access to electricity is limited, and so they provide the extra necessity of charging a mobile phone. With overwhelming support we have relaunched the solar lights project and hope to send 4,000 units to enable the people of Syria to feel safer in their own homes.

HELP US RAISE £60,000 TO BRING LIGHT AND SECURITY TO 4,000 FAMILIES
‘Satellite photographs taken over Syria show the country is 83% darker at night than when the war started four years ago. Aleppo, Syria’s largest city is now 91% darker at night.’ 2015 Syria: Broken Nation, Aljazeera.
Syria has been a warzone for over 4 years. While many have fled the county, more remain. Here at ANO we have been trying to provide some comfort. We have sent over blankets and solar light to provide some sense of security for those that need it most. We intend to support the people of Syria for as long as they need it, this coming winter we aim to send over 2,500 blankets so they can fight off the cold. And send 4,000 solar lights to families in Syria.

Every winter in Syria temperatures drop below 0 degrees. It is now more important than ever that we support the Syrian people through winter.
Many Syrians are lacking the most basic winter necessities of blankets and warm clothing. With your support we have managed to send over four containers of clothing for women, men and children, enough to benefit thousands of Syrian people. Alhamdulilah (All praises and thanks be to God).
We have also been able to provide a separate container with over 27,000 new blankets, worth £198,450 in January 2014 to Syrian refugees across camp sites in Atmeh, Hazano, Kah, Sarmada and Turkuman.
